Here at the MCAS office, we’re continually working to add value for our members. When we heard rumours that safety helmets with chin straps would soon be mandated on all construction sites, we wanted to ensure we could help our members meet this new requirement. We’re excited to announce a partnership with Milwaukee Tool offering special member discounted pricing on the new BOLT Type 2 Safety Helmets at $95.50 per unit. BIM CERTIFICATE

MCAS is excited to be partnering with Mechanical Contractors of Manitoba, Alberta, New Brunswick and the Electrical Contractors of Manitoba and New Brunswick to offer a course for a Certificate in Building Information Modeling (BIM) Management. 

The course runs from October 2026 to April 2027.

APPRENTICESHIP TUTORING

William MacMhuirich is a dedicated instructor and experienced trades professional associated with SPG Tutoring, where he brings practical expertise and a passion for education to students seeking hands-on learning and career development.

Will serves as an instructor at multiple colleges in British Columbia, Canada, teaching courses in plumbing, gas fitting, sprinkler fitting and other levels in the apprenticeship pathway. His role involves training the next generation of tradespeople with a focus on safety, proper tool use, practical techniques, and real-world application.

At SPG Tutor, Will leverages his industry experience to deliver tutoring and instruction that bridges theoretical knowledge with practical skills. He is known for his clear communication, patient approach, and commitment to helping students build confidence and competence in technical subjects.

SPOTLIGHT ON BENEFITS

Financial stress continues to be a reality for many Canadians, and it’s a good reminder of the role employers can play in supporting financial wellness.
 
Simply having a retirement program in place is only one piece of the puzzle. Are employees taking full advantage of the employer match? Do they understand the plan and the options available to them?
 
Payroll deductions and employer contributions make saving easier, but education and ongoing support are just as important in helping employees build good financial habits.
 
Can the dollars employers are already spending do more to help employees become financially resilient?
 
I think the answer is often yes — and it doesn’t necessarily mean spending more. Sometimes it’s simply about helping employees better understand and take advantage of what’s already available to them.
